Matheny, Billy R.
Before entering into law enforcement in 1985, Billy served four years in the Air Force as a Security Policeman. He then served six years in the Army as his unit's training NCO (Non-Commissioned Officer). He later returned to the Air Force and retired from the Air Force Security Forces Field.
In addition to military law enforcement, Billy is a nine year veteran of the Johnson County, Missouri, Sheriff's Department where he served as a Patrol Shift Supervisor and Department Defensive Tactics Instructor. He is also a charter member of the American Law Enforcement Educators and Trainers Association (ILEETA), the American Society of Law Enforcement Trainers (ASLET) as well as a member of the United States Deputy Sheriff's Association and the American Deputy Sheriff's Association.
He has dedicated his adult life to law enforcement and teaching defensive tactics. He has sought out and trained with a number of the world's elite martial artists, such as Royce Gracie, Frank Shamrock, and Dan “the Beast" Severn and holds a Blackbelt ranking in JuJitsu. He is currently employed by the Department of Defense as a Law Enforcement Training Instructor on Whiteman Air Force Base and is a Missouri P.O.S.T. Specialist Instructor in the Areas of Defensive Tactics, Traffic Radar, DWI Detection, and Motor Vehicle Stops.
