Knife Defense/Disarming System
The Knife Defense/Disarming System has been used by the Kansas City, Missouri, Police Department for more than 25 years with excellent results. The tactics are easy to learn in a reflexive way that is consistent with the need in such dangerous, life-threatening situations.
Trainers and officers trained in the NLETC Handgun/Long Gun Retention and Disarming Systems are already familiar with the basic techniques of wristlocks which comprise a part of both that system and the Knife Defense/Disarming System.
Trainers are taught tactics of avoidance and disengagement, and how to take away knives without being cut by them. How many officers know how to do the latter? Do you?
A simple, integrated response to attacks from any direction can be accomplished with a minimal change in arm and body movements, which makes this a very effective knife defense and disarming system to teach and to learn. Since the events of September 11, 2001, this is an essential course for officers who travel.
