Michael is the President and Director of Training of the National Law Enforcement Training Center.






 

Mike has been an officer with the Kansas City, MO Police Department since 1996. Prior to starting the Academy, he served one-year as a Detention Facility Officer and before joining the Police Department he worked as an armed security officer. Mike is currently assigned as the lead Defensive Tactics & Physical Training Instructor at the Regional Police Academy where he has trained over 42 recruit and lateral/rehire classes and instructed over 450 In-Service training classes along with many other continuing education classes.   He was appointed to the Missouri Peace Officers Standards and Training Commission Use of Force Curriculum Review Panel, is a certified national trainer in defensive tactics, a certified Cooper Institute Law Enforcement Fitness Specialist, a Level 1 CrossFit Certificate Holder, a certified Taser Instructor, a Glock Armorer, and a Police Driving Instructor Course Graduate of FLETC, having been a course record holder while attending in 2010. He is a member of the International Law Enforcement Educators and Trainers Association and has presented several classes at their annual conference since 2011. Mike is the co-author of Cooking with Cops: Volume 1 and various articles for magazines. He and his wife instruct basic self-defense classes for corporate and civic groups and he also volunteers on a not-for-profit community board.
